Business Story
In October of 2015 my husband and son gave me my first torch, a Hot Head Torch, and rods of soft glass for my birthday. I was instantly fascinated with the ability to melt rods of glass into round beads and the reactions different glass have to each other and to metals. I started making these beautiful little drops of color into bracelets and necklaces. One day a neighbor asked me if I would sell her a bracelet. And more often it would happen, people started asking where I sold my pieces. Wow! I decided to launch Perle di Vetro and fulfill my long held dream of having a handmade business. I am primarily self taught lampworker and work in my home studio outside of San Jose, CA. Each glass bead is made by me in my home studio.

Artist Statement
I have always been a crafter. Making small and large gifts for friends and family, cherishing the handmade gifts I received. The crocheted blanket made by my grandmothers, the quilt made by my favorite aunt, beautiful blankets and cross stitch made by my mother. Handmade always meant quality and love to me. I had always dreamed of having a handmade business. Making a living with my hands. Lampworking finally gave me the key to fulfilling my dream.

Inspiration
I find my inspiration in the California life style that I love. The relaxed style. The fun of wine tasting, playing on the beach, skiing in the beautiful mountains (sometimes all in one weekend). You will find small bits of California in my beads. Some are Ocean inspired, some are inspired by the colors of wild flowers from a hike or the succulents I see on the way to the beach, others are inspired by the stars and the sunsets.

Looking out for the environment
I use recycled silver and copper in my jewelry pieces. I am pleased to announced that my packaging is now made from recycled material and either reusable or recyclable!
